From November 8 to 9, the 10thConference on Professional Degree Education in International Chinese Language Educationwas held atGXU. Theconferencewas co-hosted by theSchool ofInternational ChineseStudies,East China Normal University; theSchoolof Liberal Arts/Schoolof International Chinese Language Education, Guangxi University; theSchoolof International Chinese Language Education, Beijing Normal University; and the Teacher Development Professional Committee of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT). Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President ofGXU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Xiao Jianzhuang extended a warm welcome to the participating experts and scholars on behalf ofGXUandintroducedGXU’s history and development.He highlightedGXU’s achievements in implementing its international development strategyof“Deepening Engagement with ASEAN, Embracingthe World,” including building a series of ASEAN-focusedbrands,continuously deepening international exchanges and cooperation, and the establishment and talenttrainingefforts of the Master’s degree program in International ChineseLanguage Education.Xiao Jianzhuang pointed out that the West Campus ofGXUis located at the site of the former Nanning Yucai School, which stands as one of the birthplaces ofinternational Chineselanguage education since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. Building on its locational advantages, GXU will undertake the historical mission of engaging with ASEAN countries and enhancing people-to-people bonds, and make its due contributions to“deepening exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and better promoting Chinese culture on the global stage.”
The conferencefeatured a total of 3 sessions of 9 keynote speeches,along with 12groupsessions.Scholars and experts engaged in in-depthdiscussionscentered on the core theme of “TalentTraining in Professional Degree Programs onInternational ChineseLanguageEducation,” aiming tojointly improvethetalent trainingof professional degree programs.
During the event, scholarsandexpertsalso visited theexhibitionhallattheformersite ofthe originalNanning Yucai School (VietnameseCentral SchoolZone)and theHeritageBase forFineTraditional Chinese Culture (Caidiao Opera), gaining an in-depth understanding ofGXU’s historicalculture.
Theconferencewas attended by representatives from theNationalGraduate Education Steering Committee for International Chinese Language Education Professional Degree,relevantofficials in charge from the organizing bodies, and over300 experts, scholars, teachers and students from over 60 universities and institutions nationwide,both online and offline.
