FromNovember 22to23, the 2025 “Bagui Forum” on Veterinary Antimicrobial Reduction Technologies was held in Nanning. The event was co-hosted by the Traditional Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Drugs Branch of the Guangxi Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Society,the Guangxi Animal Health Products Association, and the GXU Friendship Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars(hereafter“Returned Scholars Association”).Feng Jiaxun, former Vice President of GXU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
He emphasized that the reduction of veterinary antimicrobial use is an inevitable choice to promote sustainable development in animal husbandry; it relates to animal health, food safety, and ecological environment — providing multiple layers of protection. He further stated that the Returned Scholars Association, as one of the forum’s co-organizers, willcontinue tofully leverage its strengths, integrate resources from all parties, and actively engage in scientific research, innovation, and the practical promotion of antimicrobialreduction technologies,so as tomake contributionsto the upgrading of Guangxi’s livestock industry.
The forum focused onthefrontline topics in green farming. Many authoritative experts delivered in-depth keynote speeches on themes such as policy interpretation, technical innovation, and application case studies. In the policy interpretationsession, experts elaborated on the key tasks and development directions for the final year of theNational Action Plan for the Reduction of the Use of Antimicrobial Drugs in Veterinary Medicine (2021-2025), clarifying that the antimicrobial-reduction initiative is critically important for ensuring the safety of animal production, animal-derived food, and public health —thisgaveparticipants a clearer understanding of the policy orientation.
In the technical innovation session, a variety of cutting-edge technologies were showcased, representatives fromtheenterprises shared their successful practices in antimicrobial reduction,ateam of over ten delegates from theGXUReturned Scholars Associationalsoattended the forum. Drawing on their rich academic backgrounds and global perspectives, they actively participated in discussions and proposed multiple constructive ideas. During the interactive segments, these delegates and other attendees engaged in deep discussion on issues such as industry-university-research collaboration and technology transfer mechanisms — laying a solid foundation for thecooperation in thebroad application of antimicrobial-reduction technologies in Guangxi’s livestockindustry.
Altogether, the forum attracted more than 200 experts, scholars, enterprise representatives, and veterinary practitioners from across the country.
